The Listen button makes no sound

The app uses the text-to-speech engine already installed on your phone, so this is almost always a device setting:

1. Open Settings → Accessibility → Text-to-speech output (the exact path varies by manufacturer).
2. Make sure a speech engine is selected — usually Google Speech Services.
3. Tap the engine's settings and install the English voice data if it is missing.
4. Check your media volume is not muted, and that the phone is not in silent mode.

Then reopen the app and try again.

The voice has an accent I do not expect

The accent comes from your device's speech engine, not from the app. If you change the default English voice in your phone's text-to-speech settings, the app follows it.

Does the app work without internet?

Yes, completely. The app does not request the internet permission at all — it cannot connect even if you wanted it to. Everything works in airplane mode.

Where are my saved phrases?

Tap the heart on any phrase, then open the Saved tab. They are stored on your device only. Clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app deletes them, and there is no cloud backup.

Is it really free?

Yes. No subscription, no in-app purchases, no ads.

The pronunciation line looks strange

That line is a plain respelling, not a dictionary phonetic alphabet — wair iz thuh BATH-room instead of IPA. Read it as if it were written in English, and stress the syllable in capitals.
