1. Agreement
By installing or using English Phrasebook — Offline ("the app"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please uninstall the app.
2. Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, for personal, non-commercial purposes.
You may not: redistribute or resell the app or its phrase content; decompile or reverse-engineer the app except where that right cannot lawfully be restricted; or extract the phrase database for use in another product or service.
3. Price
The app is free. There are no subscriptions, no in-app purchases and no advertising.
4. What the app is — and is not
The app is a travel phrasebook and a study aid. It is not a translator, an interpreter, a language course or a certified language service.
The phrases, phonetic respellings and usage notes are written to be practical and easy to say, not to be exhaustive or academically precise. Regional usage varies: what is natural in one English-speaking country may sound unusual in another, and some notes point this out.
Do not rely on the app in an emergency. The Emergency category exists to help you make yourself understood, but in a real emergency call your local emergency number and seek qualified human help. The app is not medical, legal, safety or travel advice.
5. Speech playback
Audio is produced by the text-to-speech engine installed on your own device. Its quality, accent and availability depend on your device and its settings, not on us. Some devices may have no English speech engine installed, in which case the Listen buttons will not produce sound.
6. No warranty
The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the content is free of errors or that the app will run without interruption on every device.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Hugo Software is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss arising out of your use of, or inability to use, the app — including any misunderstanding, missed connection, cost or harm resulting from a phrase being misheard, misused or misunderstood.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
8. Content and intellectual property
The phrase texts, respellings, usage notes, illustrations, icon and design are owned by Hugo Software and protected by copyright.
9. Changes
We may update the app and these terms. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new effective date. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
10. Termination
You may stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it. We may end this licence if you breach these terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. This does not remove any mandatory consumer protection you have under the law of your country of residence.
